About

For over 20 years, Margaret A. Pedone has dedicated herself to defining and refining an ongoing design process of integrating innovative structural ideas with common materials and construction practices to create an innovative yet sustainable and contextual architecture for each of the different regions in which she has worked and lived.

The basis for Pedone’s ongoing exploration comes from a close study of the materiality, structural formations, logic, mobility, flexibility and sustainable systems of biological entities. She also explores geographical as well as geological forms and materials in naturally occurring phenomenon. This dedication to intimate observation allows Pedone to translate abstract constructs into a fluid yet unique architectural language. She has defined this design process as an architecture that comes from an ecological precedence that can be both accomplished and enhanced using computer technologies.

Pedone’s studies have varied, beginning in South Florida with the observation of the mangroves and island formations in the Florida Keys and everglades, and the close examination of the local fish and wildlife in the area. Fish, shellfish and birds offer a wealth of architectural ideas due to their distinct and individual structures, movable connections and internal biological systems. These concepts can then be translated and developed to work for the advancement of our mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, structural systems, and various exterior skins that offer more energy efficient methods for buildings.

With an extensive portfolio that combines education, special projects and professional awards, Pedone’s objective is to bring the kind of architecture to the community that engages the local context, history and natural environment, while maintaining the functional objectives of each and every client.

Her firm is one that wants to provide a positive work environment for any participating or collaborating individual or entity.
